5pm Clemintine Was Right: Music and Poetry

August 22, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Clementine Was Right
is the revolving full band project of poet and fiction writer Mike Young. The music revs and spikes and sways through lyric-driven, hook-smeared bootgaze and cosmic scoot, harmonizing and storytelling.

After publishing two books of poems and one book of stories in the early 2010s (with praise from VICE, BOMB, The Believer, and others), Mike moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2016 and started this project with fifteen years of songs.

Thanks to national touring before the pandemic and a collaborative online presence, we have built up a wonderful community of listeners all over (14k TikTok followers, 28k Spotify streams, and 840 Spotify followers).

About our first album, Lightning & Regret, Adobe & Teardrops said: “exquisite storytelling … one of those albums that helps you expand on how you perceive the world, be more observant, and take note of things you might’ve passed by.”

Mike and the band have shared bills with Pearl Charles, Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz), Nat Baldwin (of Dirty Projectors), Dave Dondero, as well as poets and writers like Roxane Gay, Morgan Parker, James Tate, and many others.
