Hugh Ragin & Jasper Grooves on the Patio
June 28 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Hugh Ragin Creative Ensemble will start things off for this unique evening on the patio of the Wolverine followed by the Jasper Grooves Collective. Jazz trumpeter Ragin will lead a set drawing from his own repertoire of original tunes. Ragin has been part of the Colorado jazz scene for over 25 years while also playing internationally with artists like Roscoe Mitchell, Fred Wesley and David Murray. He is currently a member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago one of the longest standing and prolific avant-garde jazz ensembles still playing. They’ve been exploring their unique brand of collective improvisation since the late 1960’s.
Jasper Grooves Collective, featuring Brian Jasper Hull- guitar/vocals, Mark Raynes- drums, Victor Mestas- keys, Jo Asker- bass, and special guest Hugh Ragin-trumpet will finish the evening with a set of original music ranging from blues & soul, to reggae, to West African influences, Latin grooves, jazz and even a few dashes of poetry in the mix. There will be a suggested donation of $10-$15. This will be an auspicious evening of music played outdoors at one of Ft. Collins coziest hangs. In March, Jasper Grooves Collective released a full length album “Bird Watching” on vinyl and they will definitely be playing songs from the new release.
This event will be held downstairs or outside (weather permitting) and is handicapped accessible.
