Letter Writing Parade

February 11, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A letter can be one of the finest gifts ever wrapped in paper. And so we shall gather Monday the 11th 6-9pm in order to create them and perhaps even revel in any letters that might already exist.
There shall be supplies to work with: vintage typewriters, unusual papers, cool stamps, and sealing wax. So you may create some potent envelope contents. And yeah, it’s true, Valentines day is coming and a finely crafted letter is the most romanic gesture known to man – so you can Valentine if you want – but this is not really about valentines day, but the all-season hero of intimacy: our dear friend the letter. If you don’t have anyone in particular to write to – sending a letter to a total stranger is a wildly exciting invitation of fate. So come anyway and you might win yourself a pen pal.
There is also the option for letter Show and Tell. Have you ever given or received a letter that you wished others could admire as well? But you keep it to yourself, in its envelope, like a secret that you aren’t supposed to tell, but honestly that makes you want to share it all the more. On this night please come whisper them in our ears, we won’t tell anyone else, we promise. Feel free to bring them and share so we may bask in epistolary inspiration. If you wanted to bring any treasured correspondence to share with us, that would be quite generous but certainly not essential.
Nick Jaina, the lauded writer of fine fine letters, books, and music, will be there. www.nickjaina.com
Cori Storb – www.coristorb.com shall also be cheering you on.
