We’re excited to offer a Novel & Memoir Creative Writing Workshop series led by local author, Sue Ring deRosset. The class will meet for three hours on alternating Saturday afternoons, starting January 13, 2018, and running through May 19, 2018.

The focus of the workshop will be on reading, discussing, and providing useful manuscript responses to the submitted works-in-progress, with craft chats, instructive handouts, and writing exercises tailored to the writers’ interests. Topics may include: characterization, POV, plotting and structure, tension, description, dialogue, scene vs. summary decisions, voice & tone, subtext, imagery, setting, and revision techniques. All levels of adult writers are welcome, and we’ll honor the diversity of experiences and literary aesthetics, expertise and talents that individuals bring to the workshop table.

The Novel & Memoir Creative Writing Workshop, which meets ten times and provides a total of 30 contact hours, costs only $350. It is capped at 8 students. For more information email

Sue Ring deRosset, MA-CNF, is a teacher and editor and the author of The Vulture Trees (WFP, 2016). She has taught creative writing workshops at Front Range Community College, Northern Colorado Writers, and Fort Collins’s Book Fest. In 2010 she was the managing editor of Matter journal and a judge for the Anthology category of the Colorado Book Award. Her stories and essays have appeared in the Sun, Wildlife Conservation, Utah Holiday, Matter, Front Range Review, and other national and regional journals and magazines. She lives in Fort Collins, where she is at work on a memoir and a series of novels.
