Poudre Pub Talk: The good, the bad and the algae: Sustainability challenges of Lake Yojoa, Honduras and it’s implications for freshwater sustainability around the world
October 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for monthly Poudre Pub Talks through the end of our Year of the River Programming. This October we welcome Dr. Ed Hall, Associate Professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability at CSU.
Ed has been working on Honduras’s only natural lake, Lake Yojoa, for the better part of two decades. In collaboration with students and colleagues Ed has documented the hidden impact of “sustainable” net pen aquaculture on the health and resilience of of Lake Yojoa. In this talk Ed will illustrate the role of freshwater ecosystems in developing countries and highlight some of the myriad challenges they confront in the face of global change. The talk will conclude with the world premier of an animated short, a collaboration with local Fort Collins artist’s Michael Bussmann and Chad Seidel.
