Education research is an important area of study necessary to ascertain best teaching practices as the times, content, and student continually evolves. Active learning continues to persist as some of the best methods for information retention. The pandemic especially forced educators to pivot to a virtual world of teaching, leading us to wonder which format (virtual versus hands-on) of active learning would increase student performance, satisfaction, and engagement?
Short Bio: Katriana Popichak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Pathology at Colorado State University. She teaches undergraduate students in areas of Microbiology & Immunology, while also actively engaging in neuroimmunology-based bench science and education research; with a special emphasis in engaging undergraduate student scientists.
