Science on Tap: Junk DNA, Healthspan and the Brain

December 5, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Junk DNA, healthspan and the brain

Blurb/bio: Tom LaRocca is an assistant professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science and the Center for Healthy Aging at CSU.  His laboratory, the Healthspan Biology Lab, studies the biology of health throughout the lifespan using multiple models (e.g., cells, mice and human research volunteers), as well as “big data” approaches. His talk will include an overview of the lab’s key projects and recent findings, many of which focus on the role of poorly understood “junk DNA” in healthspan, brain health and Alzheimer’s disease.
