The Chris Ransick Memorial Poetry Reading

November 5 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Chris Ransick Memorial Poetry Reading

Middle Creek Publishing, Lighthouse Writers Workshop and Wolverine Farm & Publick House are hosting The Chris Ransick Memorial Reading celebrating the publication of his last two books of poetry—Temporary House and Joe the Ghost

Join us for this free memorial reading as his colleagues, family, friends and students read his poetry, share stories about Chris, his personality, his humor and his life. Help us honor and celebrate the contribution this beloved poet made to Denver and to Colorado and beyond with his devotion to literature, culture, his students, and society.

Chris Ransick (1962 – 2019) published 8 books of both poetry and fiction. He was appointed by Mayor John Hickenlooper as the poet laureate for the City of Denver, a post Ransick held from 2006 to 2010. Chris was a professor at Arapahoe Community College for 24 years and since 2005, a well-loved faculty member at Denver’s highly regarded literary center, Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Ransick served as a member of PEN USA’s Freedom to Write Committee, and on his local public library board for 8 years. He helped establish the city’s program supporting literary arts, organized readings, and engaged with a diverse range of literary groups in Denver. His books will be available to purchase at the reading.
