How to Write the YA/MG Adventure Novel!
Reading adventure novels can be thrilling, and writing one can be equally as exciting. But how do you keep kids turning the page with tales of quests and danger? In this 4-hour workshop, we’ll discuss the differences between the middle grade and young adult genres, then explore the basic elements of storytelling and how to weave them together in a way that makes the story gallop apace. With these tools in hand, you’ll be ready to set sail on your writing adventure!
Lija Fisher was raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. She received her BFA in Performance Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder and has performed in theatres across the country, including Alaska where she was chased by a bear. Her debut novel, THE CRYPTID CATCHER, was published in 2018 by Macmillan/Farrar, Straus & Giroux. It received a starred review from Booklist and was a Junior Library Guild selection.
