The Poetic Inventory of Rocky Mountain National Park is an anthology of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry showcasing the beauty of our national park, and the writers who love it. Each piece in the anthology is named after a species in the park. 61 Colorado writers contributed to this collection.

History of The Poetic Inventory
In August of 2012, the National Park Service and National Geographic held a BioBlitz Festival at Rocky Mountain National Park. The festival promoted citizen science, advocated for stewardship of nature, encouraged artistic expression, discussed natural resource management issues, and engaged youth in questions of biodiversity.

In concert with these events we began A Poetic Inventory of Rocky Mountain National Park. This is modeled after a project launched the previous year in conjunction with the BioBlitz Festival at Saguaro National Park by Eric Magrane, editor of Spiral Orb. Each poet or writer who participated wrote a piece that took as its title a species living in the park. How each writer engaged with that species in their work was their choice. We not only expected but hoped for the resulting work to take many diverse forms.
